The Australian star did not save hard words the other day. He said the management of the sport should care about much more important things, as there are also more burning problems than the idea already mentioned in the title.
According to Ricciardo, with the sprint race, he would “just get himself into trouble” in Formula One:
“I’m not against innovations, but it’s my opinion that this idea wouldn’t work too well in reality. From a fan’s point of view, the idea is certainly exciting, but in practice, there would be a lot of unexpected complications in punishing faster cars. There are situations where this simply wouldn’t work. That’s why I find it unnecessary! ” he said.
Other professionals are opposed to this style of reform, with many believing that it is not appropriate to penalize faster riders. There is a general belief that you have to work for a leadership position, from design to production, from engineering work to mechanics to the performance of pilots, it would be degrading for everyone to block this work in this kind of way. Ricciardo thinks Mercedes has quite rightly ruled out the idea, as they’re not investing a lot of money and effort into their F1 project for fun. Well, we can’t argue with that.
