Following the two free practices on Friday the Scuderia drivers were more careful, yet optimistic in their statements. According to Sebastian Vettel, the winner of the second free practice ‘the team still has a long way to go’; Charles Leclerc was pretty sure that there results will be so much better than the last ones.
According to Vettel today’s results are of secondary importance, the recovering of the time lost is Austria being more important:
‘The results are one thing and of little importance. The morning was great and I think we need to be stronger on the Hungaroring, than we were on the Red Bull Ring, I hope we will manage to get there, but until the timing nothing is certain. The free practices are of little importance for the starting grid, however I do see some progress from a general point of view. If it rains tomorrow, we might have a similar performance. We don’t know what is expecting us, however, I think that we are prepared for the battle.’

Leclerc is more optimistic than his tame mate and hopes to transform the changes into results:
‘The car was better than expected. There are no significant changes added to the SF1000, however the track favors us. I was suffering during the afternoon rain, mainly because we were testing the improvements and the new equipment added. By considering the entire day I can tell that there is improvement and I can’t wait for Saturday, in order to change the good omen into qualification and racing results.’
