Following The Free Practice: Can Imola Bring Any Surprise?

The traditional, yet only two-day lasting Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola occurred behind closed doors. Unknown ring, shortened format and unexpected results – expected by all Formula-1 fans before the one and only practice…

They could not have been more wrong. Of course, one or two qualifying and races are still to be run. Based on the races seen so far, theoretically, anything is possible, yet one thing is sure – there is hardly anyone able to pose a threat to Lewis Hamilton.

Because of the short time available, the teams started their activities quickly and after hardly fifteen minutes, everybody was racing and running the timed laps. The last part of the training was dominated by the soft tires. Shortly after, the timing simulations started. The first three position were dominated alternatively by Lewis Hamilton, Valterri Bottas and Max Verstappen. One interesting fact though, was Pierre Gasly;s speed with his Alpha Tauri, and Charles Leclerc, whereas the speed of the two Renault cars was also confidence growing. Such cannot be said about the two Racing Point cars, which were rather escorting than racing and neither about the McLaren cars, which surely will not break the ice. However, there is still hope that one day somebody will come along and question everything we said…
