Hungarian Grand Prix: Still No Challenge In Sight For Mercedes

The first free practice of the 35. Hungarian Grand Prix started in a split with a hardly moving traffic. Everything we saw indicates only one thing: The superiority of Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.

The snail paced free practice’s first show was provided by Robert Kubica, who replaced Kimi Raikkönen. After starting from the pitlane, the Polish driver turned in the first curve. Because of the constantly alternating rain the other driver also made some smaller mistakes.

Hardly did the training start, when the classification board already displayed the two Mercedes racers on top, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were once again seriously challenged by the Racing Point drivers – and the situation did not change.

The greatest challenged was considered Red Bull, however, they did not come strong, their main racer, Max Verstappen, was unable to pull through a good lap. During his best attempt he was hindered by Nicolas Latifi. The Ferraris raced once again in their calm style, but they managed to get among the first ten. On the other hand, Renault may count on success, after all, their racer Daniel Ricciardo landed in the top 5 on the Hungaroring.
