According to the fellow-countryman Mika Hakkinen, Valtteri Bottas should not be underestimated, as he is in better shape and psychically is stronger and more determined than ever, while waiting for the start of the season. Hakkinen feels that beside Max Verstappen, Bottas may also pose a serious challenge to Lewis Hamilton.
According to the double World Champion Bottas is ready to cross the statistics and to fight a duel with Hamilton. Signs of such a progress were visible last year, but this is the year when the Mercedes driver is really ready for the challenge:
‘People who completely exclude Valteri make a big mistake. He is more than ready for this season, his aims are pretty clear to me.

He was in an excellent shape also during the season preceding tests and obtained some excellent results. I am sure that he will be unstoppable and be a real competition. Of course, Lewis is well prepared too, but if Valteri proves to be better than ever, he might make Lewis feel uneasy. Continuous development is tiresome, it implies a lot of work and lot of sacrifice – will Hamilton be able to face the challenge if Bottas confronts him with an unexpected situation?
According to the test results the ones with the most chances this season are Mercedes and Red Bull. They are better and faster than Ferrari, the reds will have no impact on this championship’s final results. Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen will be the ones to set the rhythm…’ – considered the sensational racer.
