Former Scuderia Ferrari engineer, legendary Mauro Forghieri, who worked as a designer for the team in heroic times, gave a statement on the situation of the red team and the circumstances of Sebastian Vettel’s departure.
According to the 85-year-old former employee, there are serious problems with the staff and with how they treat their drivers in Maranello:
“I knew Enzo Ferrari up close, and a lot of negative aspects are written on his account that were far from his style. But I’m sure he would never have treated Sebastian Vettel the way we see from part of the current leadership. Seb deserves a lot more respect.” Forghieri said that the former boss would be spinning in his grave if he saw what is happening with his beloved team now.

The great specialist made another interesting statement as well. In his view, Mattia Binotto should not be blamed for what is happening at Scuderia now, because the problems are much deeper:
“The financial part don’t hinder the work, the fault is not to be found in the infrastructure. I’m sure that Ferrari’s staff, especially its technical side, should be strengthened very, very quickly – if they want to climb out of the pit. Binotto’s role is delicate, it can’t be easy for him to endure the pressure on him, as it is well known: at Scuderia Ferrari, they never forget and they never forgive mistakes. The most important task for Mattia is to gather the right team of professionals around him and help the team to get back on the right track as soon as possible. ” – said the elderly professional.
