The statement of the Mexican pilot to the lead followed by Mercedes doesn’t have much good in it. And if we look at their development curve presented in recent races, we immediately get an answer to the question of whether the statement is legitimate.
It was already anticipated that the controversial new RP model could have a very strong performance but the fact that it might be dangerous even for Red Bull and Ferrari, would not have been guessed, not even by the drivers. In the races so far it has been proven that even if the pilots grow up for the task, the pink stable can be a killer element of Formula 1 in the long run:
” It’s vert exciting to be on the top of the field. It wasn’t always like this but this year’s performance shows that it was worth working with clenched teeth before the season. We got off to a good start, but the truth is, there is a lot more in us. The real show is just coming up, our real faces have never been seen by our opponents!”
Perez’s teammate also sees the progress but he’s more focused on their chances:
“I’m glad that we performed very well in our first races and I’m confident in the form we showed so I wouldn’t belittle ourselves before the British Grand Prix. I hope to score” – said the usually short-spoken Canadian driver who is who is likely to take the lead next year at the Aston Martin Racing Stable.
