This conclusion of the Island Country’s press is based on the Government’s stubbornness. The British officials keep to their rule concerning the two week quarantine, mandatory after arrival from abroad and are not willing to grant any exceptions to this rule to the Formula 1 technicians, thereby completely hindering the organization of the race. If nothing changes, we believe that this situation will have a decisive impact on the Hungarian Grand Prix as well.
The Formula 1 management intended to obtain an exemption form the rule mentioned, however British authorities denied, argumenting that such exemption may lead to similar requests from other sector as well. Although so far no official decision has been made, the situation mentioned is taken as given, whereas such fact is to be confirmed also by the local subsidiary of the permanently well informed Motorsport.com as well.
The possible consequences of the British Grand Prix were also considered: The season starting with the double round on the Red Bull Ring is to continue on the Hungaroring, with two rounds, according to our information. Consequently the Hungarian Grand Prix may be organized earlier, thereby taking place on 19. July and on 26. July.
The cancelled race may be replaced with the German Grand Prix, which would take place after the Hungarian Grand Prix, whereas the rest of the season would remain unchanged, as mentioned in our script. The specialized magazine quotes also a team member kept anonymous, according to who everybody is ready for the races, whereas all possible problems are to be met with flexibility. According to the source quoted challenges will be faced with courage and the forced rounds expected to last for several months would not pose a problem either.
The current situation indicates that Formula 1 is to face challenging rounds, pushing men and technology to the limit. This unexpected situation may lead to excitement never seen before, whereas we find ourselves in a comfortable situation: We are waiting to get back something taken from us.
