The initial laps indicated that the predictions would become true: The third free practice and the qualifications are to be postponed. At the end the rain washed away only the practice, the qualifying took place on the Red Bull Ring, as planned.
ITrue enough, the racing conditions were not ideal, the racers hat to compete in pouring rain and in a strong wind, but we still enjoyed the race and the ‘water show’.
No drama occurred during the Q1 training, tension was provided only by Antonio Giovinazzi and by a small crashing. However the surprises just kept on coming, because on the Friday celebrated Sergio Perez gave in after the first lap. Alfa Romeo, Romain Grosjean and Nicolas Latifi did the same.

The dominant question of the Q2 was whether Ferrari would be able to reach the final stage of the timed training, after facing a tough weekend. After facing serious emotions, Scuderia managed to stay on track with Vettel, since Charles Leclerc lost before time. In the meantime the starting grid started to get shape, it started to become clear that the pole position would be a battle subject between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen Although George Russell also had to leave, he offered a little show as well, due to which Williams landed on the 12. position. Beside the two mentioned racers Lance Stroll, Daniil Kvyat and Kevin Magnussen also had to say goodbye.

The first part of the Q3 was dominated by a strong Mercedes, by the fierce battle between Hamiltont and Verstappen and by an excellent McLaren and the final results were just the same: The very confident Lewis Hamilton took the lead in front of all the other racers. Max Verstappen is to follow him second, whereas the third and fourth positions belong to Carlos Sainz and Valtteri Bottas.
