Many years of sport at the highest level is a serious test of strength from which even the best do not escape. Although Lewis Hamilton may be running on the “longest leash” on the track, the British racer has already gambled with the idea of breaking out of the F1 cycle for a year.
The reason why he didn’t do this is the constant, almost untraceable change and development of technology.
„In Formula One things are changing awfully fast. If you miss out, you fall behind: to achieve the best performance, you simply have to keep in mind the abilities of your car and the development of technology. That’s why I didn’t take a break, that’s why I cannot miss a year. Ironically enough we’re stuck on our early summer vacation now, which has also been extended.
I, for one, am enjoying this very much, I feel more fit and healthier than I’ve ever felt before. I’ve missed this kind of long recharge period, during which I’m able to deal with things I haven’t had the time to deal with. I spend wisely my free time, now I’m learning French, for example.
I’ve always wanted to learn another language because I don’t speak anything other than English. It doesn’t feel good to speak only one language, so I’m trying to correct that now. I learned French in school, and now I’ve decided to refresh my knowledge and take it to the next level. I’ve been going on this online course, it’s like a six-week course and I have to learn every day.I do things I just do it to an extreme, that’s why I’m progressing a lot faster than I planned. I take a break from time to time, and then I jump right back into it.” – replied Hamilton to the question about how he’s been spending his time.
