The most recent news is that the International Motorsports Federation has considered a comprehensive “party moderation” of resources. The measure would hit the Mercedes stable the most, and Lewis Hamilton did not leave the draft without a word.
The FIA would already be implementing changes starting from the Belgium races to prevent the stables from interfering with engine settings during the qualifying sessions and races and gaining extra strength. Experience shows that usually (how surprisingly…) this would bring a lot of advantages for Mercedes, so it is understandable if the Germans would be reluctant to give up on this plus. Hamilton went so far as to day that the FIA wanted to punish them with this, just because they had built a car that was too good again…:
„I’m not surprised they try to stop us every time. But I have bad news for them, they’re not going to achieve their goals, because that’s not really an advantage for us.The guys at the team do extra-class work with the engine, so I don’t think the FIA’s goal will be achieved. If that’s what they want to do, let them do it, we’re ready!” – announced t the six-time World Champion pilot, with a slightly offended and self-contradictory tone.
