Uneventful first free practice, Bottas in the lead

Despite all the prior Corona virus hype the F1 field has finally arrived in Barcelona, and they’ve already completed their first free practice. There is another change among the pilots, as Sergio Perez has returned and there was a Hungarian interest in this stage as well.

George Russell was allowed to ride in the car of Roy Nissany, who is currently in F2, he’s of Israeli origins, but has many roots in Hungary as well. The first free practice started a little sleepily, for 20 minutes there was not much to do on the track. Lewis Hamilton took half an hour to get to work, but he quickly took the lead.

Until the second third of the stage, everything was one-dimensional; only the visit of Haas cars, which switched to soft tires, was a little surprising. Then reality quickly cleaned up and everything went back to normal – but it’s interesting that Romain Grosjean stayed in sixth place. The Racing Point, which is now far from the lead and finished the training on mixed tires, are expected to have a strong pace this weekend – that concludes the series of our comments.
