The pink Mercedes is very strong – this is the easiest way to quickly assess the second free practice within the Austrian Grand Prix.
Apparently neither the break nor the stopping of the production could stop the Mercedes F1 team. Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas continued where they left of at the end of the previous season, i.e. on the top. True enough, Bottas got closed to his brand mate but based on the events seen so far, it is hard to imagine that any could pressure them.
The situation behind the German duo is of real interest. Sergio Perez was the third with his pink vehicle running as fast as the wind blows, whereas Sebastian Vettel and the Ferrari could do nothing else, but to fall behind.
The battle behind them is pretty tight, Daniel Ricciardo took over the McLaren racer Lance Stroll, and the Red Bull racers, whose performance was lower than expected. The Austrian team was left only one second behind, this being eventually the reason for them to be a little worried. The energy drink team did not remained passive, a few minutes ago they filed a complaint with the FIA.

This free training was not without drifting either, Bottas, Albon, Kvyat and Latifi each showed us a pirouette. The competition supervisors had a lot to do as well, Hamilton and Stroll were fined for drifting out of the track.
