The energy drinkers were very excited for the Austrian double race but based on the performance shown there, the drivers also acknowledged that it was a mistake to talk about chances of winning. Now it’s time for another race where (supposedly) Verstappen and Co. can get back in the ring.
This time the team leader talked about their chances. Christian Horner was not even slightly broken by the lower-than expected results, and he also said where did they mostly fail in relation to Mercedes:
„In some corners we are stronger, in other ones they are. During the Red Bull Ring we lost a lot on the straight parts of the track not because we are weak, on the contrary – they have developed a lot. Unlike the last few years, now they were very strong and they did a great job on the Austrian track. Everything fell into place there, and they were arguably the best of the double weekend. We need to push harder now, we want to catch them, we’re not finished yet.”

The Hungarian track is a different kettle of fish. There’s a not-so-long straight part and a lot of technically difficult corners that are all slower than the ones in the Red Bull Ring. It will be a different challenge, but these facts, as well as the less volatile weather could benefit Red Bull Racing, at least according to Chief Engineer Paul Monaghan.
