As predicted by the press, Scuderia Ferrari has rapidly signed the contract with the successor of Sebastian Vettel, leaving at the end of the year. The new vacancy lead to the expected transfer at new level!
Today’s shockwave was caused by McLaren, who announced that starting 2021 Carlos Sainz is to be replaced with Daniel Ricciardo. The team no longer using Mercedes engines has good chances to reach the top in the next year, such possibility being strongly impacted by today’s transfers:

‘Daniel Ricciardo has proved several times that he has great potential, he is the winner of several races and we are sure that his vast experience, endless energy and positive personality will be a great asset to McLaren on its return to the top. Daniel and Lando are two very interesting people, who are to compete in our team, their fans are crazy about them and the team supports them in every possible way. We wish Carlos lots of success and all the best in the next step of his career; however until then we hope to enjoy together as many great moments as possible!’ – stated Andreas Seidl, the lead person of the team from Woking.
The real surprise came shortly afterwards when Scuderia Ferrari issued an official press release according to which Sebastian Vettel is to be replaced with Carlos Sainz, whose initial contract is to last for two years. Concerning the press release issued the happy driver and his future team leader stated:
‘I am very excited to compete within Ferrari starting 2021 and I am curious about my future within the team. However, until then I am facing a very important year at McLaren, and I can’t wait to be back on track.’ – stated Ferrari’s future racer within a few words.
‘We face the dawn of a new era and our aim is to return to the top of Formula 1. This is going to be a long and bumpy ride; however, we are sure that with Charles and Carlos on our side we will reach our aims. Their duo is Ferrari’s youngest driver team since the last fifty years and they are good enough to help us in reaching our goals.’ – concluded Mattia Binotto.

This situation only adds to the interesting aspects characterizing the start of this unique F1 season. We also need to get used to this new structure valid form 2021, however a season is a long time, we still will have many opportunities to analyze the new situation.
