It’s a quite strong, but at the moment not an entirely unrealistic statement made by Daniel Ricciardo.
According to the always-smiling pilot there is much more in Renault cars than what has been shown so far. There’s no reason to doubt the world of a competitor who always approaches things honestly and realistically:
“So far we got on the eight place during every race. That’s not a bad thing but we could reach a much better pace, at least that’s how I feel. We’re close to top the fifth or sixth place and I think we’re even stronger than Ferrari, for example.”

At least it seems to me that our speed shown during the races is completely fine, so I think, we’ll get a better score. We need more points, thus we need to be more productive. Something went wrong at the Hungarian Grand Prix but under optimal conditions we could have caught McLaren, and we were even closer to the Racing Points, so I’m optimistic. We’re preparing to do a lot of improvements for Silverstone where the characteristics of the track might also benefit us.” –declared in a motivated spirit Ricciardo who is soon to be a member of McLaren.
